Google Open Sources BrowserSync
I was a little bummed out when I first heard the news that Google was planning to discontinue support for their Firefox Plugin called BrowserSync. I became a fan after discovering it in its early stages thanks to some feed I was reading those days. So I was delighted to see that Google has decided to open source the project :)
There was definitely a period of time where it was customary for me to keep a good 20-30 tabs open at a time in Firefox, knowing that I'd process them in due time. The sweet thing with BrowserSync was that no matter where I started Firefox from, I was right back into my same browsing session. Occasionally I would force myself to whittle down a few tabs and consequently open 10 more.
I tried to convince my wife of the amazing virtues of BrowserSync but of course she forgot her initial PIN and Google - in one their rarer moments of usability faux pas, provided no way for a user to reset their PIN - Kaput.
I was always mildly surprised at how many of my fellow techies were unaware of the BrowserSync and they usually raved about it when they took my suggestion and tried it out. One nice possibility of the open sourcing would be hosting your sync solution. You could apply your own security requirements and access your stored data easily for any Firefox installation that supported 3rd party extensions.
