About Unbracketed

Picture of Brian Luft

Hi. I'm Brian Luft and I am solely responsible for the content, design, unintentional neglect, outrageous opinions, errors in judgement, and sparse inspirational ideas that grace this site. I started Unbracketed as a creative outlet; a place to reflect on my little corner of the software development universe. I hope that in time the site will grow to become a useful resource for those who share my interests which are - generally speaking - Python, Django, web application development, open source software, and the benefits of community collaboration to create empowering solutions that remove barriers to entry.

"Unbracketed" is meant to be a take on the syntax of Python, which does not use braces to denote code blocks like many current modern programming languages do. That of course has very little to do with why Python fans enjoy the language but many will point to the use of whitespace as a notable benefit. Many others will single out the whitespace as a reason to avoid the language altogether. To each his/her own! I digress. "Unbracketed" is also meant to convey a larger sense of freedom. Freedom to be productive, freedom to enjoy programming, freedom to advance the state of the art, freedom to make the computing experience more enjoyable for all. I believe that Python is a good choice for enabling these goals and so this site and my activities around it are my little contribution toward furthering Python's place.

I am genuinely interested in what others have to say and the occasional moment where I can be truly be of help to someone is what motivates me to keep learning and working hard. If you have any questions or comments please get in touch.

Thank you for visiting.
